Wedding Charm

Maiden, Mother, Crone

Wedding Charms are given to the bride after she is married – usually when the ceremony is over. These symbols of luck, love, growth or transformation are hung on the bride’s wrist as a special token of love and friendship for the new bride.

The triple Goddess or maiden, mother, crone are symbolic of the waxing, full and waning moon. In ancient pagan times the goddess ruled supreme and could represent one goddess with three aspects to her nature or three named goddess’s that work as one. The Maiden, Mother and Crone represents the stages of a woman’s life and the exploration, growth and understanding that occur. Origins of the triple goddess go back before Roman times to the when life was based in nature worship. The symbol itself is a later development to reclaim the heritage of goddesses by nature based religions or Neo-paganism. The triple goddess is well-known in Celtic or European cultures and mentioned in Roman literature. This is a symbol of the divine feminine; intuition, empowerment, creative energy, love, fertility, spiritual insight, wisdom and mystery. A great blessing for wedding celebrations.
