Vedic Age Civilisation – Ancient Sites, Orange/Teal
The Vedic era flourished between the late Bronze Age to the early Iron Age, 1500-500BCE. This civilisation is known for the Vedic literature that was composed in the Northern Indian subcontinent. In this period people migrated from the Black Sea and Caspian Sea to India, creating an Indo-European culture (sometimes called Aryans). This era begins a patriarchal and hierarchical class system, while also creating the basis for the future theology of Hinduism, Jainism and Buddhism. This period created stunning and intricate art, carving, pottery, jewellery and architecture. The four Indo-Aryan Vedas (Knowledge) are written in Sanskrit and contain hymns, mythology, poems, religious rituals and spells. The Aryan pantheon of gods is described in great detail in Rig Veda. This is an important age of scholarly development, identity and spiritual development.
