Samhain Festival, Full Moon Earrings, Pearl White

Samhain or Halloween, held in autumn is the last of the harvest festivals; mainly fruit and vegetables. Storage for winter is nearly done as the beautiful leaves of autumn fall. This festival is equally known for its remembrance of the ancestors and more recently departed. The veil between worlds is said to be thin on this night so it is easier to communicate with your ancestors.  Candles are lit across the world; festivals like Day of the Dead and Halloween have become very popular. Samhain reminds us of the cycle of life, death and renewal.  The Full moon is synonymous with all things Halloween; it is made to look extra spooky in many films. We almost expect every Samhain to have a full moon, but it only happens every 18 years. As the moon rises we are aware of its luminous glow that makes crops grow, tides move and heightens our emotions. Planting seeds and crops by certain moon phases is still considered important. The moon is subtle, hidden and secretive until the full moon lights the night sky. The Moon is Earths’s only natural satellite that has been constantly revered by the ancestors who prayed to the Moon Goddess/Gods. The moon has a calming and introspective effect on people, yet a full moon or dark moon may create a lively mood. Decorate your home, dress up, light your candles, play games and have some lollies for Trick or Treat. Create your feast using roast pumpkin, make an apple pie and drink apple cider.
