Natural Raffia – Ceremonial Craft Projects
Raffia is made from the leaves of the Palmyra palm. The leaves are dried and separated into long strips. Raffia is great for craftwork in all your spiritual ceremonies. Raffia is used in the planting and harvest festivals, especially Litha, Lammas and Mabon (Celtic traditions and Europe). If you can’t get your hands on corn sheaths, wheat or barley, raffia makes the best alternative. Raffia mainly comes from Madagascar and the Philipines. Create corn dollys, wreathes and harvest crowns, nests and symbols.
Raffia is a natural plant material (not paper).
