Mabon Festival – Leaf Fall Earrings, Copper

Mabon or Autumn Equinox is the second harvest festival and marks the beginning of autumn. Mabon marks the last gain harvest which meant a well-earned rest for all concerned. Then it was all about storage to get through winter; getting preserves such as jam, fruit and vegetables in jars. The leaves are changing to yellow, amber and red. It must have been quite a magical wonder watching some trees lose their leaves, while others like conifers remained the same. The Druids had many sacred trees and the Ogham tree alphabet certainly testified to their understanding and adoration of trees. Autumn is a calmer time of year, so make time for relaxed walking, readings spiritual books and meditation. Mabon ceremonies are about giving thanks, so give thanks to air, fire, water, earth, the things needed to survive and prosper. Dress in autumn colours with a leaf crown, have your feast and give thanks to Mother Earth for her bountiful season.
