Litha Festival – Standing Stone Earrings, Grey
Litha or Summer Solstice celebrates the beginning of summer. This solstice has a focus on bonfires, rolling cartwheels of fire, dancing, early vegetable harvest, handfasting, spiritual contemplation about the balance between light and darkness. The Oak King is at full power until, the Holly king regains his rule at the Autumn Equinox. This is a popular time to visit stone circles with their alignments to the sun during the summer solstice. Stone circles and standing stones are spiritual portals or doorways. Sit quietly near them and do a small meditation or just connect with them remotely if you live too far away. Accept any information that springs to mind during the meditation or in the next few days. With so many stone monuments across Europe, these are places your ancient ancestors may have visited. Before Christianity Europeans had outdoor sacred places where they celebrated and worshiped the gods/goddesses of nature. Celebrate outdoors with a fire, green vegetable feast or picnic and celebrate the blessings of growth and warmer weather.
