Imbolc Festival – Water Drop, Blue
Imbolc is a Celtic/European nature festival that celebrates winter as spring begins to emerge. After cold and snowy winter landscapes recede, people long for the first buds of spring. As the great thaw begins we learn the precious value of a single drop of water. Winter is coming to an end so the green land can return. We cannot survive without water yet is often something we take for granted until an unforgiving drought emerges. We can also think of the many sacred wells and springs in Celtic/European lands with special healing qualities. Imbolc is a time to celebrate new beginnings with family and friends. Use candles or outdoor fire pits, create a feast, a decorative glass bowl of water with a few leaves in it, say positive words about new beginnings, be thankful and ask the goddess Brigid for a blessing. Welcome back the green foliage and watch nature surge forth. Imbolc is a fire festival that can be celebrated on the evening before and the set date.
