Description
Imbolc Festival – Birch Earrings, Green
Imbolc is a Celtic/European nature festival that celebrates winter as spring begins to emerge. After cold and snowy winter landscapes recede, people long for the first buds of spring. Unfolding birch leaves are a sign that winter is ending and warmer weather is on its way. For this reason the birch tree is first on the Ogham Celtic Tree Alphabet. Imbolc is a time to celebrate new beginnings with family and friends. Use candles indoors or outdoor fire pits, create a feast, a decorative glass bowl of water with a few leaves in it, say positive words about new beginnings, be thankful and ask the goddess Brigid for a blessing. Welcome back the green foliage and watch nature surge forth. Imbolc is a fire festival that can be celebrated on the evening before and the set date.
