The Etruscans civilisation in central Italy came before the developing empire of Rome. The prosperous Etruscans had advanced frescos, sculptures and jewellery (especially gold and bronze) that are a treasured dedication to their artisans. Though no one has formerly identified the origins of their language, archaeologists have discovered a great deal from their ornate grave goods and religious beliefs. The Etruscan civilisation flourished between the 8^th and 3^rd century BCE, they traded, made alliances and defended their city states when need. Much of their culture was either absorbed or destroyed by the Romans – it is thought they adopted Etruscan clothing, religious practices, and style of architecture.
