Egyptian Sacred Eye
The sacred eye (or painted eye) is a symbol of protection and healing, often used in ancient personal amulets. The sacred eye represents the power to see things clearly, lighting the way and therefore giving knowledge. The right eye of falcon-god Horus is the sun (Ra) and the left is the moon that bring cycles of growth and fertility. Painted eyes were also used to guide people into the afterlife. Ancient Egyptians accentuated their eyes with kohl to resemble the unique eye markings of the falcon.
