Egyptian Ankh

The Ankh was the most powerful amulet in ancient Egypt; it was given to Kings and Queens by the gods. In artwork it is often held like a sceptre or key – people, deities and their associated animals hold it as a symbol of life, eternity, fertility and mystery. The ankh is a mysterious symbol, but as a hieroglyph it means both life and the eternal. It is also related to fertility with both male and female connotations and in regard to the sun bringing life to the earth. This also makes it a sign of creativity and growth.
