Day of the Dead (originating in Mexico) is a celebration honouring those who have passed. A special family altar is set up in the home with brightly coloured offerings, flowers and candles for the spirits. Imitation skulls and skeletons are commonplace on this special occasion. Day of the dead is a carnival of fun, dancing, music and re-connecting with the newly departed and the ancestors.
